Use light - to medium weight tear-away stabilizer when embroidering applique designs on woven, light weight cotton, sils, sheer (or non woven -don't stretch) fabrics . To embroider applique embroidery designs, hoop the fabric with a piece of tear-away stabilizer. Upload the chosen applique design onto the embroidery machine. Embroider the design outline onto the fabric.
Tips:Tear-aways are used under fabrics to prevent tunneling, distorting of stitches. Tear-away stabilizer is suitable for most fabrics. Good result using tear-away stabilizer with adhesive spray.
Once the outline stitching is complete, remove the hoop from the embroidery machine. Position the applique fabric over the outline stitching, using temporary spray adhesive to secure. Place the hoop back onto the sewing machine and embroider the tacking stitches to hold the fabric more securelyin place to the tear-away stabilizer.
Once the tacking stitches are complete, remove the hoop from the embroidery (or sewing) machine and trim away the applique fabric close to the tacking stitches. Place the hoop back on the machine and embroider the remaining design. Once the embroidery is complete, remove the hoop from the machine and the fabric from the hoop.
Choose a multi-directional tear-away stabilizer that tears in all directions evenly.
