Bobbins
Some bobbins are refillable, such as those that come with a machine. Others, are puchased prewound. Some embroidery machines can use prewound bobbins as well as refillable bobbins with excellent results. Others must use only the refillable machine embroidery bobbins specifically recommended by the manufacturer; these bobbins must be filled according to the manufacturers' instructions. Check with your dealer or owner's manual for information regarding the specific embroidery machine you use.
It is a good idea to use bobbin embroidery thread designed especially for machine embroidery. Usually made of either spun polyester or continuous filament polyester, bobbin thread is available in either spools, coner, or prewound bobbins. It comes in white or black and is used with all colors of embroidery thread in the needle. Bobbin thread usually has a smaller diameter than embroidery thread.
Note:The larger the number, the finer the thread. This numberis based on the number of yards
of thread that can be spun from a specified weight of fiber. Therefore, a 60 weight thread is finer a than a 40 weight thread.
Poly-spun thread is usually more economical, but isn't as strong as continuous filament and also produces more lint, so many embroidery thread is an alternative; however, be sure it is a good quality long staple cottonthread and clean the hook area of the machine frequently to minimize the amount of lint.
